FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HOUSTON- (Feb. 2, 2022) – Medical Clinic of Houston, LLP, often referred to as “The Sunset Clinic” announces it will soon launch an updated electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system for its medical practice. In partnership with Houston Methodist, Medical Clinic of Houston’s integration with EPIC will allow patients to have greater access to their health information through a unified patient record and aims to improve care coordination between MCH and Houston Methodist.

New digital, personalized services will be available to patients, including a patient portal called MyChart, which will give patients access to health information at any time and the ability to view both health history and lab results. Additionally, MCH’s use of EPIC will provide enhanced coordination between healthcare providers, empowering patients to have control of their healthcare in a secure environment.

“Leveraging best-in-class partners like Houston Methodist and EPIC assists MCH in providing a unified health record across care settings, geography, and multiple sources of health data,” said Dr. Martin White, MCH’s Managing Partner. “Our patients will benefit from the addition of this industry leading technology in our practice and gain greater access to their healthcare information.”

EPIC will connect individual patients’ medical records across multiple systems including MCH and the Houston Methodist Hospital system, providing access and continuity into patient medical records, and enables secure access to health data and improvements to patient safety. EPIC’s platform will also provide MCH patients with access to an integrated system that is meant to simplify and improve the patient care experience, empowering patients to have control of their health care in a secure environment.

EPIC is the most widely used and comprehensive health record system in the U.S. Through this single, unified system, MCH will engage patients, health care professionals, insurance carriers and other stakeholders while enhancing communication, personalization and information sharing among health care professionals and patients utilizing a patient portal. EPIC’s platform will give MCH and its providers the health IT needed to deliver quality care without compromising their independence. and will allow patients and health care professionals access to care and health records for more personalized care.

Some benefits of MCH’s conversion to EPIC’s EHR will include:

  • Real-time and transparent coordination between physicians who are caring for a patient, which helps providers seamlessly collaborate across specialties, reducing duplicate testing and preventing adverse outcomes;
  • Implementation of evidence-based and best practices across the care continuum;
  • Enhanced research and population health initiatives using powerful, region-wide data; and
  • Enhanced opportunity to deploy long-term initiatives to reduce the cost of healthcare and improve the health of the region

MCH expects the implementation of EPIC to be completed by the end of May 2023.  MCH appreciates the support and patience of our many long-term patients and employer groups as well as Houston Methodist Hospital’s collaboration in helping achieve these goals.
