Our goal is to provide excellent medical care in a caring and service-oriented environment while utilizing the latest medical and diagnostic technology. The Clinic, located at 1701 Sunset Boulevard, has been designed with patient comfort in mind. In this one location Internal Medicine physicians, including primary care and various subspecialties, have immediate access to comprehensive state-of-the-art diagnostic and ancillary services.

Most lab test specimens can be obtained in the comfort of your exam room. Our Laboratory staff process specimens in-house throughout the day, making results available on-line to all MCH physicians, during and after business hours. Obtaining STAT (emergency) test results is possible when a patient’s medical condition warrants. The Laboratory Department is a state-of-the-art, full service on-site Laboratory conducting over 1 million tests per year using leading-edge equipment and highly trained technologists. The Laboratory’s broad test portfolio includes Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Coagulation studies, Hematology, Urinalysis and molecular testing.

Our Lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) as a CLIA-certified lab for high complexity testing. Lab testing is performed Monday through Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Located on the Clinic’s second floor, the Non-Invasive Cardiology Department provides a number of outpatient diagnostic services which may be ordered by your physician to evaluate your heart and cardiovascular system. Most tests are interpreted by a MCH cardiologist and the results are generally available for your physician within two business days.

Diagnostic studies performed in our Clinic include Stress testing by exercise treadmill or pharmacologic methods, Nuclear Cardiology imaging, Echocardiogram, Carotid Artery Doppler, Lower Extremity Venous Doppler, and Resting EKG. Other services available in this department are Spirometry, Audiometry, and Vision testing.

Our Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography services are accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Committee (IAC), respectively. Which means that we have a long-term commitment to high standards of quality patient care and monitoring. Each technologist is licensed or certified in his respective area(s) (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Texas Department of State Health Services, or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, as applicable).

Located on the first floor of our Clinic, the Diagnostic Imaging Services Department, also known as Radiology, offers a variety of imaging modalities to assist your physician in evaluating your health. Our Diagnostic Imaging Services, accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), offers state-of-the-art equipment including: MRI (1.5 Tesla large bore magnet), CT (64-slice scanner; compliance with the federal legislation for improved radiation safety), Calcium Score Heart Scan, Digital Mammography, Ultrasound including Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration procedure, Dexa Bone Density, and X-ray. Our on-site radiologists, board certified in General and Neuro-Radiology, make results and images available on-line during and after business hours to all MCH physicians. Our Radiology technologists, performing over 45,000 procedures a year, are certified and licensed by the Texas Department of Health, American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), as applicable.

On your behalf, your MCH physician’s office will coordinate scheduling routine and urgent radiology procedures Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Diagnostic Imaging Services can be reached at 713-526-5511 ext. 4500.

With immediate access to a full range of diagnostic services and vaccination administration for international travel, high quality same day health care is delivered and coordinated by board certified Internal Medicine physicians who are dedicated to providing total adult patient care.

Medical services include: general health screening, laboratory tests, immunizations, diagnostic procedures, and drug screening. The types of physical exams, screenings, and certifications offered include: fit-for-duty with or without Oil & Gas United Kingdom Fit for Work Offshore certification (UKOOA / OGUK) or Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) Seafarers certification, annual, pre-placement, pre-assignment, ex-pat/re-pat assignment, and pre-travel exams.

Infusion Suite

The Infusion suite, located on the Clinic’s fourth floor, exists for those patients requiring chemotherapy or therapeutic infusions as ordered by their MCH physician. The suite functions as an extension of our physicians' offices, and offers a choice of surroundings during intravenous therapy. These settings range from common group areas to individual private spaces, available in quiet environments or cheery sun rooms.

Nursing personnel are licensed by the Texas State Board of Nursing, and many of the nurses are chemotherapy certified. Your MCH physician’s office staff will assist you with scheduling and can be reached through the Clinic’s main phone number (713) 526-5511.

Diabetes is a disease that can affect the entire body and the whole family. The Diabetes Self-Management Training Program at Medical Clinic of Houston, L.L.P. aims to provide you and your family with tools to enhance your overall health with diabetes. Our program is designed to help you learn how to make informed choices in daily living, set and meet behavior change goals, and reduce the risk of complications from diabetes.

A Certified Diabetes Educator will lead you through individual and/or group training sessions to ensure each of your unique goals are met. The program at Medical Clinic of Houston is Recognized by the American Diabetes Association* and provides training on the seven recommended self-care behaviors:

  • Healthy Eating – encompassing individualized needs, carbohydrate control, and meal planning to meet your goals.
  • Exercise – benefits of exercise, strategies to incorporate activity into daily living, safety guidelines, and goal setting.
  • Taking Medications – how your individual medications work to improve your blood sugars, and strategies for medication management.
  • Monitoring Blood Glucose – when and how to check blood sugars, and target ranges for optimal health.
  • Problem Solving – how to prevent and manage low and high blood sugars, plus sick day management.
  • Reducing Risks – how to prevent and/or delay complications from diabetes.
  • Healthy Coping – learn about and build a support system to keep you healthy.

Your Diabetes Educator will coordinate with your MCH physician and provide you with individualized care every step of the way.

Participation in the program requires a doctor’s order and may be covered by your insurance plan.

Whether trying to lose weight, gain muscle, accurately count calories, or all of the above, a quick in-office metabolic rate test will provide valuable health information and baseline measurement of your daily calorie needs. The metabolic rate test is performed by a Registered Dietitian via a hand-held MedGem device during a 15-minute office visit that includes result analysis and printed recommendations to start reaching your goals. Fasting for 4 hours prior to the test (from caffeine, food, tobacco, and exercise) is required. At a cost of $75.00, a metabolic rate test is an inexpensive way to jumpstart your health. The Sleep Disorders Center provides a comprehensive program that brings technical excellence and medical expertise to assist your physician in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Our interpreting physicians are board certified in Sleep Medicine and our technologists are Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or have completed the A-Step Program.

The Sleep Disorders Center offers a wide range of services such as Diagnostic Sleep Studies, Continuous Positive Pressure and Bi-level Positive Pressure Titration studies, Split-Night studies, Multiple Latency Sleepiness test, and Maintenance Wakefulness testing. All studies are performed and interpreted according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s standards to ensure the highest quality of care. Patients are monitored with state-of-the-art equipment in a private, quiet, home-like setting. Each sleep room is equipped with a Temper-Pedic mattress, flat screen television, wi-fi, and a private bathroom with shower.

Our Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
